On the weekend of April 17/18, 2009, we drove up to Berkeley to see Rebecca in a production of CITY OF ANGELS, and to take her on her first ever wine tasting trip (and OUR first trip to the the Napa Wine Valley).

The trip also included dinner at the celebrated new “vegetable” restaurant in Napa – UBUNTU.

The cast of CITY OF ANGELS (including Rebecca) take their bows

At Del Dotto Winery in Napa

At the beginning of our Cave Tour

On our way into the cave for a barrel tasting

Several glasses later ...

Next stop - the Deli at the V. Sattui Winery

Where we bought a picnic lunch ....

And enjoyed the scenery ...

While devouring our yummy lunch.

A tasting at Rutherford Hill ...

And another at Silverado Vineyard...

While enjoying the beautiful views ...

On a beautiful day.

Outside the highly regarded "vegetable" restaurant UBUNTU

(“humanity toward others”)

The tranquil interior

(although it was CROWDED when we were there)

Asparagus and a "virtual" egg ...

(the egg is deconstructed, moussed, then re-constructed)

Straight from the garden - greens and flowers - and dirt!

(the dirt is dehydrated beet pulp and pistachios – yummy!)

Fresh shelled peas

with macadamia nuts, mint, and white chocolate

Carrot Gnocchetti with ginger

(my personal favorite – heaven!)

Roasted Cauliflower with Vadouvan

(Chef Jeremy Fox’s signature dish)

Chocolate Ganache with Avocado Ice Cream

Roasted Strawberries with Lavender Meringue

What a great trip!
